Secondary Education

Girls from 11 to 16 years of age belong to this section. Holy Angels’ Girls School is a vibrant, stimulating environment where these girls are inspired to aim high and achieve their very best. This is an exciting time, which brings increased diversity in the curriculum, greater contact with specialist teachers and resources, as well as heightened independence and responsibility. We place great emphasis on ensuring that our pupils have an enjoyable, secure and supportive learning environment.

As we entirely grip the concept of education as a life-long journey, we are committed to providing a holistic education that nurtures and supports each girl’s individual needs and abilities.

Our Secondary education is sub divided into three levels as

  1.  ◆  Junior secondary level from grade six to grade nine
  2.  ◆  Senior secondary level leading to GCE O/L
  3.  ◆  Senior secondary level leading to GCE A/L

At the junior secondary level our students will begin to learn through a subject based curriculum that replaces the integrated curriculum. However relationships among subjects are maintained through horizontal integration. There is a common curriculum but in certain subjects specialization is permitted by allowing the student to select certain optional areas.

After completing the four year junior secondary level at grade nine, students proceed to GCE OL class at grade ten. This course is of two years’ duration and at the end the students sit a public examination, the GCE O/L. The curriculum consists of six core subjects and three or four optional subjects selected from several groups of subjects. During this period it allows us to nurture life-long learning skills, developing the whole child, not just knowledge and understanding alone.

Therefore our girls are encouraged to participate in all aspects of school life. They are challenged to reach their full potential and encouraged to take responsibility for their own academic and personal development. We seek to develop the values and qualities our girls need to tackle the challenges they will face, empowering them with self-discipline and maturity.
